The BSE Smallcap Index and BSE Midcap Index also closed in the negative. The market breadth was negative with advances at 401 against declines of 782 on the NSE. Major Sensex gainers include Sterlite Industries, GAIL, BHEL, SBI and Reliance Industries, while losers include Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Satyam, HCL Technologies and Wipro.
